Default Confused by store categories and sub-categories

Do not know where to put such auctions as padlocks, telephone cords, tape measures, etc. I was doing some editing on some of my auctions, and all of a sudden, was being asked to change categories for many of my auctions. But they will not go into anything, such as Whatever Is Left, other. Thought this was for anything that did not fit into a specific categorie such as doilies in dollies, etc. Help!

I was confused by the question, since it was in "category suggestions" and also because I couldn't quite figure out of you were just asking for ideas of where to put things, or was saying you'd got a glitch with categories being refused or something.

There has possibly been a change in categories and the one your item was originally listed under either no longer exists or a newly created one is deemed more suitable.

Search for similar items on the site and see which category they have been listed under. If you think they look right then use that. If none look suitable then suggest a new category to eBid in the correct forum.

    Suggestions:

Padlocks: DIY > Security & Safety
Tel. Cable: Consumer Electronics > Mobile & Home Telephones
Tape measure: Would depend on the type

I am confused about your question too. Did ebid or buyers tell you that your items were in wrong categories? If they are and are reported, they can be removed which is a real pain, so best to correct ASAP.

Not only that, listing in Whatever, or listing in a slightly off category hurts your chances of making a sale. i.e. your vintage doilies are listed with new doilies in the Sewing category. They belong under Antiques, Textiles, doilies. And if I am looking for a padlock, I look under Security, not Whatever is left.

Can you be more specific about the problem?

Sorry everyone, guess poor communication on my part. I was doing some simple editing, (My poor spelling, agin) and had made some simple changes on spelling im either my title's for auctions, or their descriptions. When I went to save changes, message said I needed to change catorgories. Cauld not think what I needed, and everything I was trying, it was being kicked out of. So temperally cancelled the auctions. Thanks for all the help. I really do appreciate it. I figured if I was going to get a suggestions, this was the place. Thanks agin, will try suggestions.

If it happens again, can I suggest that instead of cancelling the auctions, you leave at least one running without making the changes (just click out of the screen and the auction will stay as it was). Then we can look to see where it is now, and make a more informed guess at what the problem is.

Let us know an auction ID and the changes you made to the auction and we can take a look for you. Specifics always get you a faster response.

    Thx,
