eBid (albeit incorrectly) use the term 'Dutch Auction' to refer to any listing of more than one item. So what we consider a multiple item listing (i.e. more than one item available as BuyNow only) they call a Dutch Auction.

Even a biddable multiple item listings which, on all sites I have used, is defined as a Dutch Auction is incorrect terminology as a true Dutch Auction starts at a high price and comes down in price until someone is willing to buy - the reverse of normal auction.

Run Until Sold is just that.. Run Until Sold. It is NOT a Dutch Auction.
If a seller is offering a qty of 5 in an 7 Day auction, and only 1 sells, the remaining 4 expire on eBid at the end of 7 Days.. even if that auction was originally listed to relist 8 times.
NOW... if it was originally listed as RUN UNTIL Sold and 1 item sells... then the 4 remaining are still active and do Not expire.
    Got it?

I have already agreed with you that no type of listing on eBid is a real Dutch Auction. The simple fact is that eBid do call any listing (RUS or whatever) of more than one item a Dutch Auction. They could call it anything they liked but certain rules and behaviours would still apply to any listing of more than one item on eBid.

    Which leaves three choices:

    1. Like it
    2. Lump it
    3. Petition for change (which eBid is good enough to allow)

In the latter case aggressive petitioning is less likely to achieve the desired result than persuasion i.e. make a reasoned case rather than addressing the site owners as if they are idiots.

Dutch Auction is a type of listing. Run Until Sold is a period of listing. Your relating them in this way makes no sense.

Not aimed at anyone on this thread directly.

I would just like to say that I personally don't see an issue with the way things are, I see an issue with people not wanting to commit a stock quantity to eBid.

If I list 1 item or 25 items on eBid then that is my commitment to the quantity that I want to put for sale on eBid. Why should the system be changed so that people can change their commitments of items.

If you list 1 item, you commit that item to eBid selling, if you want to change your commitment simply delete it and start again if applicable
If you list 23 items, the imo you commit to selling 23 on eBid, if you want to change this then I think the seller should have to close the auction and start again.

Just so you know... all you have just said... is not a problem with me.
It is just another ballgame from what I have said and mean.

Like I said it was not aimed at anyone on this thread, it's just that the *question* of changing quantity is occurring quite often

Yes, feebay kept stores separate. Separate fees (higher final fee), and listing below other items in searches. No auction items in stores either. Seller got discounted listing rate to open store.

On ebid stores are way to organize large groups of things so buyers could find what they want faster. But are treated same as other items (i.e. not separated in searches), and same fees. So possible to have items in an auction, as a BIN, and in the store too. Items get more exposure; but it is not a true separate store.

Yes. But some newbies may think that stores can only have long term items in them (i.e. run until sold). Store items on ebid are treated like non store items so can be auction items or BIN items, makes no difference. If sellers use run until sold, their items lay on the bottom of the category and never budge.
