Family History

There is an increased interest in Family History or its more formal title Genealogy
At present auction items for Family History are usually divided between the Headings - Books and Computer Software.
Users need to be quite skilled in searching or determined if they are to find items.
IE if you search "family history" you only come up with items that have family history in the title (about 10 items all of which are mine)
There are many more listed in E Bid which don't come up on this search.

I suggest that a specific entry under family history or genealogy is made under the hobbies main index.

As i can't find my previous thread on this subject, I'll join in here!

There is no category suitable to list the following|:

I propose [again]that Genealogy/Family History should be an entirely new category with a few sub-cats:

Genealogy-Family History/Software
Genealogy-Family History/Books & Magazines
Genealogy-Family History/Research Services
Genealogy-Family History/Stationery
Genealogy-Family History/Other
etc., etc.,

Needs refining, I know, but just ideas at the moment.

I agree. I'm another family history researcher and I just may have some items around the house to list.

I don't have any to list, but am always looking for items in family history/genealogy - I find it SO helpful when postcard sellers, and book sellers, etc list peoples' names if the card is sent to someone - I often look by place name - or look by family name.....there are books with family name's attached - like family history, or history of certain counties or villages............lots of items fall into so many catagories that a sellr can't put them into enough to cover - which is why search words are so important. IMHO

HM ... Too bad that there isn't more room in the title field. A person could put the family name of the addressee right in the title when they are listing postcards.

Yep, totally agree with the above. I have a large number of Family History / Genealogy items that are just waiting to be listed, a dedicated heading would be great.

Agree. Had done family history (genealogy) for over 30 years now. Have retired from that, have many books no longer using, so have mine in sub-cadogory called genealogy in my book section.
