It does not matter it is for US companies only.

But a question for those from the US, do you have adds on TV from google that are showing the companies other than google? Just puzzled as to what TV they are talking about? It sounds like Narrowcasting the adds to an individual cable box. So if you watch a lot of male stuff you get adds for men, if you watch a lot of female stuff you get adds for woman, all of which will be age specific.
I heard of it talked about years ago, and then again with the outset of Tivo but did not realise they were able to do it yet.

Would be interesting to know if you have seen the google adds and what they show?

    This is an old chestnut.
TV ads are over and forgotten far too quickly to be worth while.
Anyone who sells has to advertise themselves not rely on others to do it for them. You can put links on forums, chat sites and the like, start your own web site, use twitter and facebook or even you tube.Tell all your mates and even stick an ad in the local paper or shop window, use your outlook express contact book etc etc.
There is no such thing as a free lunch. If ebid start running expensive ad campaigns the bill will end up with its sellers in terms of higher fees.
If that happens one of the biggest attractions on Ebid (and certainly one of the most promoted ones) vanishes, all for the sake of 30 seconds of very temporary fame.

The biggest arguement I think of against TV ads is TAZBAR, they launched with a TV ad campaign and never recouped the loss in the time they traded. I'm not sure exactly how long that was but probably around 3 years

tv ads is probably way to dear, but how about any advertising? i think an advert now in a specialist vinyl magazine would be very worthwhile. start small in the niche media market and work outwards. nows definetly the time to do it

I don't think bringing out the new site in the run-up to Xmas would be a good idea.

I would also rather they take their time than rush it out only for it to fall over within minutes (which it may do regardless).

I don't think there would be many people who would ever accuse eBid's "they" of rushing things Have you forgotten the launch of the "translation" into French??

You want some TV coverage? Go stall or jackknife a semi on some busy highway or bridge. Make sure you have a big ebid logo on the van. Or paint up a hot air ballon with ebid and turn it loose. The ballon boy got world wide tv coverage. I'm sure you could make the news if you got a little creative.

I had loads of trouble on feebay and got suspended, then reinstated because my state's Attorney General for consumer protection got after them. Received a call from a real person, welcoming me back, telling me to behave (although they never knew why they suspended me). Everything I said to her went right over her head, unfair rules, etc. She had a snippy answer for everything. I said I had my own website and went to ebid and would not come back. Snippy answer. Then I said I had the names/addresses/emails of 5000+ customers and would contact them, THATS WHEN I GOT A REACTION OUT OF HER.

feebay does not want to lose its customers. Those customes are vital in their plan to reinvent themselves with new items not collectables. Every ex seller must convince those customers to come over to ebid with a personal invitation. tv ads wouldn't do it, radio ads won't do it, YOU contacting YOUR customers and telling them about ebid will do it.

You don't like feebay and what they did to you, or the fees they charged, then contact your customers and tell them where you went and why. It generates sales for you, sales for me, sales for all of us, and helps ebid to grow. It hurts feebay to lose customers.

Like it or not, with any alternate auction site you have to work to get sales. That is a reality. Makes it easier to make those sales if you bring your old customers over here.

I totally agree about the email thing. Added to that we all need to use Google to our best advantage.

I do believe there is a seismic shift happening in the online auction world.
