I'm no expert (which is why I don't put a numeric grade on the coins we list), but this looks like a coin with lots of detail. I think a doubled die this nice would be worth a bit more than 50 cents.

Thanks, I felt like it should too and I am going to see if I can find a reputable dealer and have it checked out. It is actually in a windowed cardboard pocket and I took it out to take the pictures.

I do too and yes it is. I don't know if it would be xf or AU-50 but either way that is a pretty big increase.

I agree, however if you were to auction the coin for say a starting bid of 1c or 50c or whatever, and were to only get 1 bid, that is what the buyer would have valued it at. Of course you could get around that by setting it up as bin but a buyer still has to be willing to spend the money on the item. I recently won a rare coin for approximately 50% of it's true value. I acknowledged the value of the coin, and even offered to pay the seller more, but they would not accept. The value of the coin did not change, but the unwillingness of other buyers to bid against me caused the coin to sell at a loss. I felt the other bidder was not wise, it was ridiculous.
