    Lightbulb Gift Aid

Ah... I've been meaning to raise an interesting point about that - giftaid is not claimable on money raised by payments for goods or services, only straight donations. So no money raised via YDC or PF or any other charity auction held here should ever be marked for a claim of gift aid.

I merely pass on this information - what people choose to do with it is their business.

Actually, I think I'll take this out of the pimp thread and give it its own thread - sorry to hijack you, hope you enjoy the ride.

Ah... I'd like to raise an even more interesting point - giftaid can be claimed on payments made for goods if the person donating the items is a UK tax payer.

I don't know how it works in other charity shops but with the BHF, when you donate goods you're asked if you would like to fill out a giftaid card. If you do, when your items are priced they're given an extra sticker so the person on the till knows they can claim giftaid on the sale price.

So as seller we should then add to the auction description if we are a taxpayer or not.

And then there is the 'extra' straight donations made on top of 'bids' for many charity auctions.

I try not to put into the gift aid thing or paypal that it is for an auction, we will have to come up with a secret code so that all on the KT know whats what!!
