Default any advice for new charity shop for cancer research uk

    hi
my name is ann,i have opened a store to raise funds for cancer research uk
i lost my lovely husband to cancer 6 months ago
    6 months after diagnosis
we were very grateful for clinical trial ,they tried to help us
and i would like to help in the fight to beat cancer
i have opened an account at just giving so that buyers can pay direct if they prefer.
it is a work in progress and any tips or advice very welcome
other than donating i have never done fund raising before.

Hiya, I see that you offer buyers the option of paying direct via the Just Giving page - I think as a buyer I'd find that a reassuring thing, since I'd be confident about where the money was going, but I'd like to understand how the mechanism would work between me paying there, and you processing the payment on ebid, knowing the item as paid for, shipping etc. I think people will want to be confident that they will get the item, because you will know that they've paid. er... sorry, I don't think I've explained that very well, but I hope you know what I mean!?

    hi
yes i think i know what you mean
but i thought paying direct to them they know it is going to charity and no different from them sending a postal order
and i will mark as paid when it is put into just giving
i guess it is down to trust really
it is early days i will see how it goes and perhaps ask in forums what buyers would prefer
    thank you ann

I think you just need to show how you will match the just giving payment with the auction. How will you know a particular donation is for a particular item? I'm sure it's perfectly simple, but I'd make sure it was spelled out.

Good luck with it, by the way.

As the frame is new and not hallmarked (though I can't see where you said it was'nt) then it is unlikely to be actual silver. The normal term to use where you are unsure is White Metal; it is then up to the buyer to decide what that means. For unmarked items that could be gold but are unmarked then it is Yellow Metal.

Good luck with your endeavours - I have lost two sisters to cancer. It's not a good way to go (if there is a good way).
