Lightning strike? No problem!
I've been waiting for a real-life test for the APC UPS I bought, and today it proved it's worth by keeping my ReadyNAS and Mac on while the rest of the house was plunged into darkness, hehehe! I can probably get about 25 mins out of it before the battery runs down, more than enough time to save and shutdown, or wait a few mins for the electricity to come back on.

25 minutes does not seem very long. We had an ice storm once that took the power grid down for 3 days. I have a gas generator backup so no worries for me. I was able to continue to watch the hockey playoffs in the NHL.
