Thread: Sponsored walk: For those folk who asked.

Default Sponsored walk: For those folk who asked.

    *edit*

I've made a sponsorship page on JustGiving to make things easier.

    The url is www.justgiving.com/fcarr

    *End edit*

For those folk who have asked about the sponsored walk that I'm doing in September here is some information for you. Sorry for not answering pm's and emails quicker but I've been sorting out some stuff.

National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children sponsored walk, which is called The HACK – Hike Against Cruelty to Kids.

The 25 mile hike takes you through natural woodlands, valleys, viaducts and gorges and climb the pinnacle of the Ingleborough peak to enjoy one of the best views in England. Ingleborough stands at 2373 ft and is perhaps Yorkshire's most famous "flat-topped" mountain. The 25 mile walk has to be completed within 12 hours.

It's roughly a 2 hour drive from here to the starting point and since the start time is 6am I will have to be up around 3am to get there on time. So I'm guessing I might be a bit tired by the time I get to the end of the hike.

I'm going to set up an online sponsorship page for anyone who would like to sponsor me, I have set myself a target of £200+ but obviously would love to make as much as possible for the NSPCC.

I'm going to start training next weekend, I've already invested in some proper walking boots and a suitable backpack and a proper lightweight weatherproof coat and a couple of other bits. I will do as many walks between now and September as I can in preperation for the charity walk but I am somewhat restricted due to work and other things.

The longest walk I've done so far is 16 miles, I wasn't even tired after that walk but it was mainly on roads and paths and took me nearly eight hours. The charity walk will be a lot harder as it is across country and up and down Ingleborough peak.

Once I have my registration pack (I registered for the walk today) I will post a link to my online sponsorship page and would really appreciate it if folk would pass the link on to anyone who they think might like to sponsor me and help me raise as much as I can for the RSPCC.

If anyone would like to do the walk for the NSPCC themselves (the sponsored walks are being held at five locations around the UK) the nip over to the HACK 2009 site for more information.

Thank you for the interest folks, lets hope all goes well.
