I certainly didn't know about the 10 day 10x relist for higher rankings, will definitely give that a try. Also will be adding ebid where I can to my business lit and cards to send out to (e bay customers - opps did I just say that) my customers and associates. Will also add to my own web site and try to help with the leg work where I can.

If you are trading on any other site, you can put eBid flyers in the parcels - lots of us do!

spread the love buy posting on message boards about the items you sell make a signature and use it both on here and on that message board if pos put a clickable link in it that leads to your ebid store.
look at the items you sell most things now have a trade mag why not enquire how much it would cost to run an add in it for a while.
Have you exported your listings to google base???

Voice crying in the wilderness here (opps, a bible reference), best way to get the best buyers on ebid is to ask them to come over. You know who they are because you sold to them on feebay!! They have addresses and email, send them a note, even a canned one inviting them over (or have ebid do it via buddy pt system).

Advertising to the general public is sketchy at best and will not target the specific people we need to buy from EACH of us. That is, I need to get the buyers of vintage linen people over, others have to bring the coin & stamp people, the toy people, the art people, etc. With 500,000 sellers on ebid, if each of us brought over just 2 buyers, we would have a million new buyers!!! These would be handpicked by us, good buyers, hopefully with jobs and lots of money!

The main problem to mass appeal is the lack of items in several areas, for example can I find anyone selling Sable watercolour paintbruishes or Extension Tubes for a Canon camera, no.

This is part of the problem, we have plenty of sellers of some things and nothing for quite a lot. Try searching for things that you might want and see where the shortfall is. Those are areas that need covering if we are going to attract buyers and more importantly keep them coming back. If a new potential buyer searches for something on their first visit and finds nothing are they going to try the site again when next they want something.

Ken has highlighted a problem - so often what I want to buy just isn't here. I look here first and I try to keep increasing my own listings so that there is a better chance that someone will find what they want.

Also I use the dark side's email system to give links here - all my item dispatched emails carry ebid links and have done for years! (yes, Ken, I know you think I shouldn't list there, but I need to get some of this stuff out of the house and sales here just won't hack it!)

Selling is a strange profession. Lots of people are blaming the recession for our troubles yet for other business is booming. Now I know it depends on what your selling, supply and demand etc. but I was once told many years ago whilst doing a sales & marketing course that..."without prospects you have no prospects." This phrase is very true and I think in lots of cases it's a question of 'If Mohamed won't go to the mountain, then the mountain must go to Mohamed' (Oh I'm full of cleashe's today)

I think because we are placing products on a large medium we are expecting that medium to do our selling for us. Only we can do that by being interesting to buyers. We must get our name and put big flashing lights around it. Wet appetites, entice, ensnare, encourage.

Remember.."Grab them by the bo**ocks, and their hearts and mind will follow!"
