Shore Charities For Strong Communities(SCFSC) opened in April of 2009 on eBid. The purpose of this store is to support non-profit community educational programs that focus on developing the whole person, spirit, mind, and body for a stronger community.
The first fund raising activity for this new charity store was involvement in the YDC65 on eBid! It was a great success. I would encourage all eBidders new or old to participate in the YDC auctions that are held monthly. The American Heart Association received all proceeds from this stores auctions in YDC65.
The American Heart Association (AHA) has been selected by this new charity store to receive auction proceeds. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the USA. AHA is a reputable non-profit organization who has been serving communites across the USA with life saving education on preventing heart disease, research, and service.
So please take a look at this new store, Shore Charities For Strong Communities and consider making a bid! You will be glad you did! Please click on the link below~~~~~~~~~~

CAREGIVER WELLNESS TIPS
The American Stroke Association (ASA), a division of The American Heart Association (AHA) has identified fifteen (15) things that all caregivers should be knowledgeable about when caring for someone who has had a stroke. These caregiver wellness tips are good advice for caregivers across the spectrum of dis-ease,
I. Equip yourself with information- learn about
your loved one's heart condition, the medi-
cations prescribed, and any equipment needed
for the home. Do not be afraid to ask about
anything you do not understand. [Mind]

CAREGIVER WELLNESS TIPS
II. Avoid The Risk of a Second Stroke-
*Partner with your loved one's physician;help them follow treatment plan & see their MD regularly.
*Encourage them to eat a heart healthy diet, exercise, and take medications as directed.
III. Recognize The Uniqueness of Stroke Survivor
*Avoid comparing the recovery of your loved one with other stroke survivors. Recovery is impacted by where (location) and how much of the brain was involved, person's level of motivation, caregiver support, amount & quality of rehab services, and their state of health prior to the stroke.

IV. Stroke Suvivor Recovery Rate Varies-
Restorative gains most commonly occur within
the first four months following a stroke; but
some individuals achieve functional gains 1-2
years following a stroke.
V. Seek Help From Physical Therapist If-
Your loved one complains of dizziness; falls
due to imbalance; has trouble walking.
VI. Never Ignore Falls-
Falling after a stroke is very common. If
your loved one falls & complains of pain, has
bruising or bleeding, go to the emergency
room. If fall is minor (no apparent injury),
let their physician know.
*Note: If individual is elderly, treat all falls
as serious. Do not attempt to get them up.
Call Emergency Service to evaluate if ER
visit is needed. Inform their physician.
