Cool Can you "under price" yourself & lose customers ? Wow !

Have you ever gotten a question from a buyer telling you:
I would buy some of your pieces, however I am torn because
[ now get this ] "your prices are almost too good to be true" ?
Are they "real" jade pieces ? WOW ! [odd]
My fellow sellers, Is it possible to "under price" yourself right out of sales ?
Oh, by the way. I told them I purchase these pieces "directly from an
overseas manufacture" and yes, my profits where minimal, however "the
pieces themselves are "real jade" !
Does anybody out here find this a bit odd?
    Thanks !

I don't think this is odd. There have been items listed that I thought about buying, but the price was so low it made me suspicious. It's easy to compare prices for new items and because so many things can be faked, an unusually low price is a red flag. Sellers like this are all over GreedBay, and I think buyers are getting more cautious.

You might want to add your explanation in your "All About the Seller" page . . . I noticed you haven't anything in it yet.

Or consider raising you prices a bit.

I agree, prices that are too low can sometimes raise suspicions as to the quality. I don't mean that the quality of your goods is not good, but just that it can make buyers be a bit wary.

Some people can be put off if they think the price looks too good to be the real item.

One thing I did notice in your listings you have a lot of duplicate listings.

They are all also 'Run till sold', would be better listed for a set number of days with 10 auto reposts, so they keep coming to the top of searches.

Hello. I had the same thought awhile back. Are my prices too low? People think it cann't be real. I sell a different item though. Recently there was a tv program in Canada telling people to watch out for fake jade, if the price seems too good to be true. Apparantly they use soapstone and other materials that look close but are not the real thing. Probally not helping your sales.

listings as to, well ? I don't quite know how right now to list
the number of items i have other than to duplicate them. I'll
look though. I must be missing something in the listing !

Should i raise the prices ?

I would , if I was you.. suggestion: based on buyer comment, bring price up 5 to 10% , and then each time you make a sale, increase price slightly more (a few cents to a dollar) and see how many sales you make over how many days , when you see that number start to drop significantly, or you find competition undercutting you, that's about where you knock off 5-10% of that "sweet spot" price and you should be good to go..

its what I used to do with wholesale items I'd buy and no one , including manufacturer , published a "suggested retail price"

Pricing is always tricky but I agree with the others. If it is priced too low buyers (including myself) are suspicious.

You probably do this, but I'll say it anyway -- do research on the internet for comparable/similar items that you have and see what others are charging. Most buyers do this research and know what the going rate is. Good luck.
