Could someone please explain to me what the desire is for search results to show if an item has bids on it? I totally fail to get it. Do some people only bid on an item if someone else is showing interest in buying it?

If nowt else, it would stop all the threads about nothing having bids on. I must admit if I see an item has bids I tend to look for another one. The only time I'm likely to enter a bidding war is during the YDC week.

Apparently according to many posters on the poll that was running before the Guys introduced it. I usually avoid items with bids.

To be honest I don't actually care either way about bid visibility, I just don't want yet another poll about it.

If I'm looking for an item, find one, and it has a bid on it, I'm likely to put it in my watch list until near the ending, to see if there are more bids before I decide whether to go for it or not.

However - on ebid, I've hardly ever seen anything I want with more than ONE bid!

If a bid is showing, it also indicates to visitors that the site is being used - view counters are currently giving a very bad impression, looking as if nobody is doing any business!

I don't think you've looked very carefully. I just clicked on popular auctions on the front page and there seemed to be lots with multiple bids.

Currently out of the first 75 auctions listed under popular auctions on the front page 28 have more than one bid, on the second page 29 out of 75.

I'd quite like to see a 'number of bids' column or box in searches.
