Well I think you both need some praise, I know this is not the norm for this forum, but having just seen this thread Lost in Translation which no chatting is allowed I though I would say a thankyou to you two for trying to help eBid improve on non-english speaking sites (french generally)

So well done to you both, or should that be Bien cuit à toi tous les deux (probably incorrect)

...and two women in a 'No Chatting' forum. Who'd have thought it?

I just had a look at that thread. I reckon the boys wish now they had asked for help earlier! And when it come to the German translation, my offer of help still stands

Seconded with vim and vigour, a fantastic effort. Having seen the number of corrections they're suggesting, I do wonder if ebid will be paying their translator's bill!

If it is that bad then one wonders just who they did get to do the translation (and did they pay them?). Maybe they just used an English to French dictionary or ran it through Google.

Thanks everyone and a BIG cheer for Elvire at Maxinesbookshop for helping out! Are you actually French because I am not - so I won't be offended if you tell me that any of the suggestions for alterations I have made are rubbish! I am happy to be corrected!

I think for meebo and German - it would have been simpler if eBid had shown this to us before going online - I would have preferred to have seen a double spaced paper version that I could have scribbled on and changed rather than having to reference every item relating it to section, stating what it says and what it should be. It is very time consuming.

Thnks also to cmjewels for the help she is giving me behind the scenes re. beading terminology!

Must say I am a bit worried about what it may be saying on the Portuguese site and as far as I know we have no-one to help with that problem!!

Yes, I am French although I live in Bristol. Your French is perfect, I haven't seen anything to correct but I don't know the first thing about beads and jewellery.

I saw a few more things last night but I was too crossed-eyed to do anything about it; I am heading back there now.

Thanks Elvire - and for pointing out my typo!! I have edited out the mistake!

You are very kind about my French - it is far from perfect I'm afraid! With some of the bits I am looking at I can see it isn't right but have no idea what it should be!! Tricky.
