    Have you tried googling for "XP IE tabs" or similar to see if you can find discussions elsewhere of the same problem? Sometimes somebody else has already solved it and you just need to track them down!

    thanks for the link. Last night I was looking at various forums with this issue, but all appear confusing to me as to rectifying the problem.
    It says install xmllitesetup, but I don't want to go and corrupt my brand new shiny pc!!
    Will have another go now and might go for firefox if all else fails!
    Appreciate all the help from everyone

    Ok folks, just tried again and this time I couldn't run it at all. It came up with an error message
    "Extraction failed. update/iesetup.exe is not a valid win32apllication"

    Have found out why it has not been working. My new Pc had been set to the D drive on my docs which was causing the problem. Got help from IT at work!
    It's now fully functioning now I've changed settings to C drive.
