I sure I don't have a melting spoon here but I think I've got a small 2 or 3 inch wax stick here somewhere. Will see if I can find it and let you know.

I've only found one supplier in the UK that stocked them and their supplier has gone belly up so that is now none.

I didn't know wanted ads were uploaded to Google. Must be, because mine is there already just a few hours after posting it. Got a bit excited as I thought one was listed on eBid then found out it was my wanted ad.

    Interesting request!

Used to use a lot of sealing wax when I worked for the Civil Service, but we never had 'melting spoons - just held a taper under the stick until it melted and dropped on the string, then whacked the seal on while it was liquid.

    What do they look like?

Like a little ladle except the type I am ideally after have a little spout at the side of the bowl to aid pouring. You put your wax pieces in the spoon, heat it over a flame and then pour the molten wax where you want it.

Actually...looking at that...it looks a lot like a melon baller. Wonder if one of those would work? I'll have to have a look next time I am in town.
