At a time when more and more people are feeling the pinch and searching online for the cheapest deals, Microsoft makes every effort to quickly stamp out any unlawful sales on sites such as eBay and eBid, and works with five of the biggest online auction sites and shops in the UK to make sure software sold is genuine.

Would have been nice if they said that eBid was one of the five.

Mentioning feebay and ebid in the same sentence in the same context is awesome enuff for me, it means they acknowledge them as the leading auction websites. It cannot do ebid any harm can it and all publicity is good at the moment.

Not sure if that is good or bad. Good because of the namecheck, but bad because it might make people think that this is yet another site full of knock-offs and forgeries. They would not realise from that report that unlike certain other venues, eBid make a serious effort to move the trash out of the door.

Strange it's even a problem these days. With so much really great, really free software available (not pirated), the message isn't being spread enough. Programs like Firefox (much better than IE), Open Office, Gimp, ... these are just the tip of the iceberg, there's a huge quantity out there.

Kudos to eBid though, for showing the trash the exit door.

there are many more threads about users who's accounts have been put on hold or who's auctions have been deleted

All of those listings have been deleted, I would think/hope that each one was looked at before deletion. With large amounts of listings that takes time, and would probably be done in small batches.

I agree. I can't understand why anyone would want to use M$ products when there is so much free software that is just as good for most users - and also happily works with the M$ products that most people insist on using.

<rant>Although M$ have caused a few problems with their.docx and .xlsx formats in Office 2007 as nothing else is compatible with it - presumably that's the idea, so everyone has to go back to M$. The answer is for everyone who uses free software to go back to the sender of the .docx or .xlsx document and tell them to save it as something everyone can read, if M$ get enough complaints maybe they'll get the message. </rant>

Having said that, does anyone know a database program that works with Access? I'm stuck with developing an Access program for work, and have to use it at home as well, (for working from home), obviously I'd rather not, I only have one Windows machine (5 years old now), which is seriously slow and underesourced.
