We've got Limoges already in China & Porcelain, if that's any help,
unless you need it in collectables too?

Must agree with Cornish - if I was looking for Limoges I would be searching in pottery, not collectibles.

    Cornish.

China & Porcelaine is okay for the modern stuff, but not so good if you are selling a Limoges Vintage Collectible item.

It would be like putting an Antique Royal Doulton item in China & Porcelaine with the Royal Doulton items that were produced last month.

Limoges item are highly collectible for a lot of people.

I have to agree with Trinakarenmillejamboree.

I primarily sell Limoges porcelain. Living near Limoges, France has givien me a real history of the fine china produced in this area of the world.

First - Limoges is not a brand name or a factory. It is the area in Haute Vienne - an area in the Limousin (a department in France) - where some of the world's finest porcelain is produced. It's base is the River Vienne. There are very few actual Limoges factories left. Oddly, some of these factories, although located in in the department, are no longer located in the actual city of Limoges. The porcelain, however, is still from the same materials taken from the River Vienne in Limoges.

    Now....

There are many items made of this porcelain.

Limoges trinket boxes are the most common collectables.

They would not be searched for in Porcelain or China and especially not in Pottery.

I sell antique and new Limoges porcelain sets, jewellery, and trinket boxes/pill boxes - collectables and find it difficult to find the categories in which to list.

I also sell many Royal Worcestershire antiques and other well known brands. Some of these items really belong in collectables and antiques, not in with the new items.

This is the only site on which I list, where I have the category problem.

China porcelain & pottery used to be under collectables, it was moved to a top level category about a year ago to keep everything together. It's meant to be where the collectable items are.

I have the same problem, I have Antique & Vintage Collectible china & porcelaine which I really dont want to put in with the modern day stuff.

I wouldnt like to see this site become a clone of other sites, but the one area I do think that all sites should be similarly categorised.

If a buyer buys from a certain category on one site, they will automatically look for their wanted items in the same category on another site.

If they are looking for e.g Vintage Limoges, they wont want to put limoges into the search bar to trawl through modern day stuff.

Why not request the sub categories be split to keep the modern stuff separate from the old?
Starting to put china etc categories back into collectables is a backward step IMO.
