Gail, List your items for sale on Craig's List and in the ad put a link to your ebid auction site. I've sold my last two items on ebid that way. Plus I've been asked many questions that way re: ebid. Good luck.

ebay has just offered a free listing on all 99p starts - so i guess they are trying to get people back on side.

The free listing on 99p reserves sounds good till you work out the final value fees and the paypal rip off.Bear in mind too this is only for private sellers, who don't have to offer the same warranties etc as business ones.
They now seem to be pushing more for free post,of course the seller has to get the costs of posting back, and will do that by increasing the selling price. That will then of course increase the amount of the final value fee.
No wonder its getting harder and harder to find anything worthwhile on there.
I noticed too that forign sellers can sell items the UK sellers are banned from selling and that the rules re multiple listings don't apply to them either.
One other point whilst I'm letting off steam.....
I noticed a problem on here and got a reply and the problem fixed withing an hour on ebid.I contacted (well actually in one I diddn't because they never even replied) the other lot to report a fraud. The item has still been sold so some poor soul is in for a shock.

Good conversation. I will throw in my 2 cents:

Feebay techs never took problems seriously and the trusty Security Dept took themselves too seriously. All must be on extended coffee/tea breaks because robots answer emails, issue suspensions, etc. That is one reason feebay is crashing and burning today.

i.e. in Early 2008, feebay had problem w/ payments showing NOT PAID & Paypal links broken. Repair took more than a month, and links were never restored for affected items (sellers had to figure it out, I had like 20 of them). Buyers & sellers were NOT alerted to problem, those who received negatives for non shipment had to suck it up. Poor way to run a company.

Feebay relying on robotic generation of suspensions, etc, with staff unable to over ride system also caused numerous problems that were never addressed. i.e. following payment fiasco, feebay changed feedback system (neutrals became negatives, newer feedback counted more than old) and many were suspended for low feedback. Angrey response forced feebay to change back, BUT no one remembered to reinstate people who now had a satisfactory feedback score! Opps, let them sit a month and see what happens.

A company who runs like this, can not last long. Add taking away right of sellers to issue negative feedback to anyone, even non payers, and you have a real problem attracting good sellers.

I do have a point, now look at ebid: I had a policy question, it was answered (by a human) quickly & I was even given tips on wording my listing to avoid problems. Excellent. When there is a BIG tech problem, i.e. invoice failures, the problem got quickly announced, fixed, and the invoices are sent out correctly. Excellent. Maybe the counters don't get fixed fast, but I believe the ebid is working on the problem from my past experience with them.

What I learned from selling on feebay is that I will never again accept disrespect, shoddy inconsistent policies, and corrupt feedback systems again. I take my business seriously, it pays my bills, and feebay should have taken it seriously too. When they did not, I left and found another online auction service that valued my business, ebid.

Does any one know if this auctiva is just feebay in disguise trying to attract people back with levels of decreasing fees- are they that desparate to try to lull you into their own alternative. Just keep them outa ebid

I understand the price hike.......people keep paying it, period. Alot of "Full-Time" sellers can't afford to leave e-bay, let alone take a chance and switch sites. So they end up paying what-ever hike is charged to them.

Lookin' for movies or a "lot" of movies at a great price, visit my store.
