Thread: # of Views.......

It definitely does alter when auctions are reposted - one of mine had 6 views on it and then I reposted it when it had run its 10 relists... it now says 0 views. And no, I haven't got it set to do that in My Defaults.

Has anyone actually emailed support about it? ( as well as posting on here?)
Why not take a quick look at my Stores?

Yes, I did back in January - this was Support's reply on 25th Jan which I quoted earlier on in this thread:

"The counters are working ok apart from a few small glitches that have occured over the past few weeks. We arehave hopefully ironed these out now so if there are any more problems please let us know."

Others have emailed support too - but this continues to be a major glitch and one that is very annoying; at least for me it is. There is no way the counters were working OK and no way that they are now.

A listing I put up yesterday has 1,988 views. I'm amazed no one has bought it yet.

Actually, I've never paid much attention to the number of views. People may look because they're curious about something they've never heard of, other sellers trying to price an item, some are potential buyers comparing prices . . . until someone buys it doesn't mean much. I would like to see the number of people watching our auctions. That would give me a clue that something may be overpriced.

I don't think this problem has been fixed yet. I've never had a problem but this last week, the views were there one day and the next they were gone. I've been resubmitting some of my auctions so I go from free to gallery auctions and then ones that had views I didn't change yet, but now there is no views. I'd hate to close an auction and repost it with gallery if there is a possibility to sell something. Any one else still having problems?

Thumbs down View counters are a complete waste of space!

The last time I remember getting sensible, if not reliable, view counts on eBid auctions was in September 2008!!

"This is why I wish if ebid insists on making counters mandatory, that the counters only be seen by the seller. Low view counts don't help the site when trying to entice new sellers here."

That's my view as well - either fix them, remove them, or at the very least make them invisible to buyers.

The problem has been dragging on for months and the only response from the site managers came on Jan 25th, and they only viewed it as a small glitch.

I think this is a very good idea.

I'm fed up of the view counters too. I regularly rely on them but they always stick at zero with a few that seem more reasonable. It is really downheartening especially when things are really slow to sell.
Please please someone get this fixed

Can you honestly say it's one of the most important faults of the site?

I can't. There's loads of things that need fixing or improving. In many cases they're not new issues either. So if I were a site manager I'd probably regard items in my todo list beyond the 100+ mark as "small glitches" myself.

Counters are a bit of fun. If they're not always accurate, it's not a big deal.
