I fear Alexa stats are not very reliable, as they rely on folk having the Alexa toolbar installed, if every ebid member didn't had it that would push the place up the rankings. Personally I have no need of toolbars from Alexa, Yahoo, Google or anyone else, I have enough clutter on my PC without adding to it.

Your comments about being alert to the current hot topic for publicity purposes is very pertinent, staying aware of the latest trend is essential, and also when to get off the bandwagon as well.

I'm staying with the power seller unite site. Like the idea of ebid being #2 - gives us something to aim for. I have several thousand items to list still. Any volunteers want to help???????

I know and agree with the comments on Alexa, and also do not add tool bars to my browsers - in fac in Firefox, the only add-ins I use are dictionary and Ip to location translators - I'm a great believer in keeping tools clean and simple so they work faster.

Re the marketing campaigns - Chinese New Year today (Year of the Ox) so too late to do anything for that.

Valentines in 3 weeks - could run some sort of last minute campaign for that.

Easter coming up in April - need to start organising for that to maximise it.

Queen's (official) Birthday in June(?) - changing of guard, trooping the colours etc etc etc - plenty of scope for Royalty memorabilia across a wide range of categories from stamps to ceramics.

US Independence Day 4th July - lots of memorabilia, barbeque etc opportunities there.

1st quarter of the year is weddings bits selling season

2nd quarter of the year is sumer holidays and travel accessories/kit selling season - need to see concerted effort in those to push eBid up the search and spend rankings.

Remember too (for UK) January is a big change of car month - where's the offsite adverts for eBid motors to compete with eBay Motors (which apparently lost 22% of it's market share last year).
