Always Pay With a Credit Card
I thought about making this tip #1, but I put it last hoping you will remember it even if you forget everything else: Always pay for coins on eBay using your credit card! Even if you use PayPal, use a credit card to fund the transaction.
The reason is that under current U.S. banking laws, you always have the final say on that money when you use credit (not debit cards, either; credit only!) The eBay and PayPal Buyer "Protection" plans are weak, and I hear complaints all the time about how difficult they make it to collect on a claim. But credit card transactions can always be charged back as a last resort. " Even PayPal cannot override a credit card chargeback! "
If you pay with a credit card, the final power is always in your hands.
I have also been on eBay for a while and never had a problem that wasn't taken care of quickly.
Cardinal rules include the one about paying with a credit card, also if the person is new they must take electronic payments that accept credit cards. Some members state in their listings that they are having trouble with PayPal and for the buyer to be ready to pay with a check! Don't there there is a chance in 4ell that you will be able to use PayPal.
Don't give up on eBid! There are lots of good sellers that are very honest. I have had a good time here, even if the prices are quite out of whack.
Yeah! I think that could be classified as some sort of slip. But it still holds true either way, I haven't had a problem here (or on eBay) that wasn't resolved quickly.
My only complaint here is that the administrators don't take a heavy hand and use draconian measures on these scammers.
Who in this day and age would have $25,000 worth of precious coins yet not own a camera to take a photo of these coins? If the seller relies on stock images off the internet then the buyer should be held responsible.
Bad(un-knowledgeable) buyers are those who make Scammers thrive
Here are two auctions, one from California and the other frm North Carolina. Wonder which one is real, the set of coins is worth well over $100,000.
not actually a link But search feeBay for an item containing 120 Morgan Dollars (Thanks for the tip on no eBay links)
and item

Oops! Links to feebay not allowed here, I'm afraid - you might want to edit that to avoid grief.
