    Hi Shezz!
Count me in, this sounds like fun.

So, the outer border of the square would measure 7" by 7", with a generous seam allowance? And the completed squares would be more in the neighborhood of 5" by 5", is the way I'm reading this.

A monogramming machine is one that allows you to write your company name or logo in script on a work shirt, for example. I have used one to sew my mom's name directly onto her clothing so it wouldn't get lost in the general washing, rather than buy labels with her name on them.

I'm probably just confusing you Sarah, I'll stop now and let someone with a clearer, non-sinus head to take over
    "You're a guest of nature.....so behave!"

No Sarah...you need one piece of fabric 7"square and you will stitch, paint etc a design in the middle of that piece of fabric. The design has to me a max of 5" square so there is a 'border' of 1" around it that will be used to stitch them together. When all the blocks have been stitched together they will be backed by wadding and fabric into a quilt.

Here is a link to some finished quilt I made a while back...substitute the embroidered squares for our blocks.

    See I told you I had mis-understood.

So is this correct then (or an idea that would be suitable)

If I were to do some cross stitches that were about 7x7 and the actual design took up 5x5 would that be OK?

thats correct as the border is needed for sewing

So why didn't you just say a cross stitch, rather than confusing little old me.

Monogramy machines, this quilting, buttons, bows, I thought I was baffling just my self LOL

Now i know it's a cross stitch you want count me in, I'll see how many I can get done between now and November (will one do?)

Is there a theme to the quilt?
