Thread: Auction Description Editor Is Not Working

  1. #91

Just noticed that I can't amend anything in my All About Me page either. Once again it's to do with the WYSIWYG.

Just thought I would mention it

OK, so far we've established there are at least 2 users who are experiencing a problem with a white window when using the WYSIWYG editor.

We now need to find the common denominators on your computers to find out why it is happening to you.

    1) Can you go to Tools > Internet Options in IE7 and make sure your settings are NOT on HIGH

    2) Can you click the New Document button on the editor and tell me if you are able to add content from scratch

    3) Can you confirm the problem does not occur when using Firefox

    4) Can you press the fullscreen button on the WYSIWYG advanced editor and tell me if you see any content

    5) Can you press the HTML button on the WYSIWYG advanced editor and tell me if you see any content

We need to know what you are doing to enable us to replicate it.

Also, i know its a cliche but can you try to clear cache and cookies before re-attempting, it is possible you are still harbouring outdated code from before we upgraded the WYSIWYG editor.

    Thanks,

    Gazza.

I intitially could not revise a listing add photo, I can now..
I use a template set at advanced wsyg
    IE7 browser.
    Cookies been cleared.

1220621750-16968-0 is a listing I have live at the moment.
I went to the listing copy & pasted the description to do a new listing, ( I am also copying & pasting flistings rom the other site over to ebid)

When I populate the template needed it shows okay.

When I try to copy & paste the live listing description into the new description box area I get a menu type thing come up
    (see photos).

The description does not show only a menu box.

To get the description to copy & paste, I have to click the paste icon 3rd icon from the left on the 2nd row of the WSYG tool bar.
The menu still shows but the description does come up.

The menu does not show when you press submit & the listing goes live.

    Gazza you are Wonderful!!

I wasn't able to follow your list of instructions exactly but I consulted the Vista Help site and it would appear that by DISABLING ADD-ONS temporarily, all is OK.

I can see all the content CLEARLY in the WYSIWYG advanced and can type and amend as if nothing had happened. It all looks exactly as it was before the upgrade Weds.

    I could kiss you!!

    Thank you so much!

You might want to do as I have done as you are also using Vista IE7. Just bring up the Windows Help and follow the instruction.

There are still 14 icons on the WYSIWYG that are not highlighted as before ( which I didn't use anyway ) and I'm having to re-align everything as it isn't quite as it was before. I'm not sure what half the icons do so having to fiddle with them a bit to get the page to look the same as it was.

    But I'll get there

Can you tell us which addons you have that you have disabled. From what I can see you have to disable individual addons, or can you disable all at once?

    Was it a specific addon?

    Thanks,
    Gazza

I looked into Vista Help & Support and it instructed me to go online via START>INTERNET EXPLORER ( NO ADD-ONS ) which presumably means ALL add-ons I suppose

All this stuff is a bit technical for me. It will only be a problem for me when listing as that's the only time it will need to be disabled. I'm still not really sure what these 'add-ons' are all about TBH.

So sorry, not much help am I?
