Hi Merlin, Have you looked on Ebay there's load of spares on there.

If it's only for doing accounts on then why use a laptop? You could probably pick up an old desktop for less money than the parts you require. £35 might buy you an ex-corporate PC, get a CRT monitor free from freecycle, upgrade the memory if necessary (costs about £25 for 1GB) and you should be all set.

No need to buy software, no need to have Windows even - just download a free linux distribution set and one of the numerous free accountancy suites.

I wouldn't count on it. If he's anything like me he'll still have that old laptop sitting in a corner waiting for some attention!
