The three books I know I read more than once - and so must be favourites:

    Coral Island by R.M. Ballantyne
The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley
Mutant 59 (The Plastic Eaters) by 'Kit' Pedlar

I've often wondered this... am I the only person who loathed The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe? Hideous. Sorry Jean, I know it's hugely popular so this isn't a reflection on anybody's taste but my own. But really, does *anybody* else dislike it?

I've never read it - it never really appealed to me - neither did any of the classics - Jane Eyre, Lorna Doone, Little Women etc. I remember having to read some book for school - I think it was What Katy Did Next - I read the first page and thought - can't read this its a load of carp - so I put it down and read one of my own books and did a book report on that instead. Didn't really go down well with the teacher at the time but I did get reasonable marks for effort.

I loved it but don't have a copy any more.

I gave a copy to my daughters to read and neither of them enjoyed it all - I was really disappointed
wow! I have never met anyone else who had even heard of the book! It was a favourite of mine, I still have it - another favourite was Shadow the Sheepdog .... still have that too.
