Lightbulb what book was your fav as a child & do you still have it?

Of course i absolutly loved enid blyton famous five and secret seven + brer rabbit - I also have a poetry book still that i had when i was about 5 'a child's book of poems' with lots of things like the owl and the pussycat, but loads of christina rossetti too. What were your favourites? and do you think your favourites then reflect on what you read now?

Charlotte's Web, Black Beauty, Daddy Long Legs, Eloise - all books my mother had that I found wonderful. Some we still have. Read lots of other books as well, but these are the ones I remember best.
Not sure if they influenced my present reading, it seems to be constantly evolving (my reading tastes that is!).

The Water Babies, Alice in Wonderland, Little Women.

I had them all until a few years ago when we held a charity book sale and I donated them to the cause.

Just William. My brother lent me the book... I still have it, he'd grown out of it and didn't want it back. I still read Richmal Crompton regularly, and listen to audio versions often. I love William Brown.

Jane Eyre was my favourite though I no longer have a copy

Just the other night a colleague at work mentioned that her son's teacher had set the class to read 'Jane Eyre' by the following Monday (he told her on the preceding Wednesday !) The pupils had been told that if they couldn't get a copy of the book then they could watch it on a dvd so she went out and bought the dvd

There's no way that watching this on dvd could replace the drama and excitement conjured up by one's own imagination

The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner (think I've spelt the title correctly)

I loved it but don't have a copy any more.

I gave a copy to my daughters to read and neither of them enjoyed it all - I was really disappointed

Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer delighted me as a child. ( I was 7 when I got my autographed copy ).
At the same time I enjoyed Stevenson's Treasure Island.
