Thread: Any Maths whizzes around?

    Default Any Maths whizzes around?

    Hello,
    I need to work out this Maths formula. Can any Maths geniuses help?

    theta = 360(1 - sin(phi divided by 2))

    Evaluate theta when varphi = 60

    Second question. Usually when you have a power - for eg, 2 squared, the little power is at the top right hand corner of the number. What is it called and what does it mean when it is at the bottom right hand corner of the number?

    A bit difficult to describe what I'm asking as I can't put the mathematical symbols into my post.

    Thanks

    which is the same as X = X Divided ... theta = theta + 1 . IF phi > 360 THEN phi = phi - 360 ... DIM x3(2), y3(2) FOR i = 1 TO 360. c!(i) = COS(i * 3.14 / 180) s!(i) = SIN(i * 3.14 / 180)

    Are you serious? I don't think this is the place to find the answer. You could look here and see if you can find some help though. Good luck with it.

    I am *definitely* not a maths genius, but... I thought "sin(blah)" was a way of expressing the sine of an angle, in which case the two numbers should be the length of the opposing sides - but 60 and 2 sounds like a darn funny shape triangle!

    And if varphi is variable phi, then they're saying replace phi in the formula with 60.

    Which *seems* to be saying
    theta = 360(1 - sin(phi divided by 2))
    theta = 360(1 - sin(60/2))
    or 360(1 - 30)

    What I can't remember is when you start multiplying by the bit outside! It was a long time ago I did maths o level!

    And to be honest, that's all very hazy and seems over simplistic, so it's probably nonsense anyway. Perhaps an actual maths genius will turn up soon.

    You can't leave it at that! How do you get there, I can barely remember 2 + 2 these days.
