I think it should be an either or. for seller short breaks a holiday/vaccation notice clearly advising buyers that the seller is away for xxx days and will be unable to process sales and answer questions etc for that period. During this time the listings/stores can still be in view. For longer periods the option of a holiday / vaccation hold where the listings are removed from 'public view'. When the seller returns everything can be restored at the click of a button.

I know they had something similar on the other side, which removed the listings from view, and when a watched item that has been put on holiday hold was opened, a notice came to view instead of the item description advising the buyer / watcher that the seller is currently away. How it actually worked as a seller I couldn't say as I never used the facility there.

    I hope this makes sense.

Many thanks for getting back to us on this, I think this facility is very important to all sellers. It makes life much less complicated when you have hundreds of listings running..

On a personal note I would rather see the auctions removed from view. On the other side they have a tick box at the top with holiday settings on or off facility, you then have a choice to leave a standard mesage that the seller is away when people view the shop, or you can set up your own message. On return you just unclick the boxes and everything is set to what it was before.

At the moment I still have a shop across there, as my listings end I close them. It took me literally seconds across there to set up 'I am away message' and remove the items from view. I still have work to do on here to re enter my items.

We will be adding an interim facility. There will be a checkbox on each My Notice row and if ticked will remove bid and buynow facilities from your auction pages and replace it with a repeat of the notice's text.

This will be ready this week.

    Hi Gazza,

I think some people may not like to advertise that they are going to be away from their home for x number of days/weeks, just a thought.

Then they don't need to use it.

Why wouldn't they want to use it? If you are going away, that is just when you would want to use it

er... you're the one who said people wouldn't want to advertise their absence, so they just need to close their auctions. For those who *do* want to use a holiday setting, then this is a plus.

Do you have a better solution?
