Hi

My hobby is collectables and antiques and one day I might have time to set up an ebid store - anyway I get Collect it! every month and every month they go on about the other site. I wrote to them saying they should give ebid a mention, unfortunately they took out the word ebid fom my letter but printed everything I had to say about that other well known site. If you get the magazine have a look.

have you asked them why? are they getting paid by feebay or something?

I believe as a professional journalist, they are supposed to represent companies equally and mention those other than *Bay (in this case). Notice how this happens in the media with political parties.
I don't know much, but I do have a 1st Class Hons in Video Production !

The BBC, as part of its licence fee agreement, has to offer equal exposure to all the main parties, but I doubt this applies to auction sites and "collect it" magazine. Magazines and newspapers are commercial enterprises and can do what they like about promoting other businesses... with the obvious result that they look after their advertisers thankyouverymuch. If ebid was removed from the letter, it's probably because it was perceived as gratuitous advertising... and they generally prefer to get paid for that sort of thing!

I'm going to see if they change their stance in the next edition, if not I'll nag them again. Quite often papers and magazines cut and paste stuff, but I wrote a letter rather than email, giving them too much chance to edit it. I have sent out two press releases last week to local newspapers promoting our store and ebid with a bit of luck they will do the cut and paste bit!
