Lightbulb Offer more sub catagories for model trains

Need to offer more sub-catagories for model train manufactures, such as Atlas, Westerfield, Walthers, Tichy, Model Power, Intermountian..etc. Plus sub-catagories for model train parts. Such as:

I think it would be best located like this,

    Categorya/Categoryb/Categoryc/Model Trains

so the others would be located like this

    Category/Category2/Category3/Model Trains/Walthers/HO
    Category/Category2/Category3/Model Trains/Atlas/HO
    Category/Category2/Category3/Model Trains/Intermountian/HO

    Thanks.

Please read the following thread and make your post again afterwards.

Management have stated that all requests for new categories need to be in a specific format.

OK, you're certainly trying to comply, but I don't think you've understood.
Instead of putting: Category/Category2/Category3/Railroads & Trains
You are supposed to replace the word "category" with the actual category name.

    For example:
    Toys & Hobbies > Trains > Railroads & Trains

    Hello Scratchbuilt Mike!
Jay 1 and I are working to get the Trains category organized so that you will be able to search for things the same way you would in a hobby shop. If you read my postings from earlier in the week I have already suggested that:
    1. Tinplate and Toy be broken out from Scale Model
    2. Scale be broken down by each scale category as a first level sort. Starting with 1 1/2" live steam and going down to Z As each scale fills in with enough listings a category sort can be added and then it is time to add manufacturer level sorting.
If you try to put in manufacturer level sort and then scale sort later you make a major programing problem for the site operators. 8^(

Thanks for checking in Gazza. Our next level of sort for TRAINS needs to be:

    Toy & Hobby> Trains> Tinplate & Toy> see narative

    Toy & Hobby> Trains> Scale Model> see narative

The toy and tinplate collectors will be able to advise you how to properly structure this area. Right now it is perfect for Lionell, Marx, Thomas the Tank Engine and whatever else people feel is appropriate till the category bulks up.

The scale category will eventually break down into the following individual scale categories with niche sub-categories for narrow gauge within the more popular scales.
    1 1/2"
    1"
    3/4"
    1/2"
    G
    O
    S
    OO
    HO
    TT
    N
    Z

As the more popular scale categories bulk up sorts can be added for rolling stock classifications and structures and other equipment.
Eventually it will be desireable to have the category go as far as a brand name sort.
Thanks for paying attention. We know you guys are really busy right now.

This post is just a bump to move this thread back up.
The category sort is more fully developed on this thread than on the other thread.

I also feel a need to split American AND European prototypes AFTER >scale models.

I agree 100% - Model Railroading should be split into American, Asian, and European Prototypes for easier searches.
