Default "Standby for High Seas and Heavy Rolls"

Went into the "Transportation/Railway" category to start the cleaning of the Agean stables and sent this out to each of sellers that books listed for Boats, Cars, Tractors, ?????. Didn't count anything related to buses as I think I've started enough of a storm with the number of sellers/books that are going to have to move.
Here is the message I sent to 27 sellers.

As a courtesy to all sellers
    who have books incorrectly
    listed in the railway category
I am asking you to check all
    your book listings in that
    category and to remove any
    that are not Railway/Railroad
    specific. There are several
    new sellers who are railroad
    hobbyists who will be "tidying
    up" in appropriate areas and
we would like to keep the
workload on admin as light as
    possible.
    Thanks in advance for your
    attention.VandTnut

I tried not to send duplicate messages for the multiple listings.
One seller has over 60 items listed that need to find a new home!
So far I have received one reply and can you believe it, there is NO sub-category for ships and boats????

This afternoon there was a category update and many of the suggestions made this last week were implemented. Among the new categories in Books were Transportation sub-classifications for Aviation and Nautical topics!
Many of the sub-divisions for the Railways classification were also added. It is now possible to list books by continent that they apply to.
    Thank you GAZZA!
For those of you who feel that I am just a pushy American, well you are entitled to your opinion. You can not deny that I have gotten results.

If the category title is transportation/railway, then I guess most peoples items would still be relevant ( including boats as they are transportation). It really isn't practical to act on updates to categories as they are posted on the forums; personally I update when i'm relisting and the ebid automated message tells me that a category I previously used has been changed.

On a personal note I think ebid has too many categories and goes into too many sub divisions. If i were selling a railway themed book i'd want to list it 'transportation - railways' and not have to pick a further sub category after that.

If sellers who specialise want to sub categories their items then the ebid store set up is a great way to do it.

When I'm buying books i get frustrated at having to open up additional sub categories to browse a genre, and probably miss a lot of items i may have been interested in. Sometimes less is more

As a general bookseller I can see your point.
As a specialist I can tell you It needs to be cut much finer once this place starts to rock and roll.
