    Default Repros in Antiques Category!

What are all those Egyptian repros doing in the Antiques category? Didn't you learn anything from ebay? Are you serious? My first impression of ebid is now...they allow fakes/repros in the Antiques category.

Antiquarianmadness, welcome to eBid and good luck on here.

eBid does not allow items to be listed in the wrong category but there are so many listings it is impossible for them to catch all of them. There is a "report this auction" on the left hand side of each auction listing page. If you see one that is breaking the rules click on that link then on why it is being reported, it will be checked into, and pulled if it is wrong.

Those of us who have been here awhile feel it is our duty to help keep the site cleaned up and running smoothly.

If you have any other questions or need help in anyway, feel free to come back and ask more questions or make comments. The regulars on here are friendly and helpful.

The antique section is a joke 95% are fakes or repro the majority of the items were made last week.
I came on here trying to spread over from Ebay until they police the antique section no one will bother looking

Can you tell me which items are repros and are NOT indicated as such.
I imagine you'all are talking about multi-hundreds... gimme a clue please.
    They will be reported accordingly.

It is true that there appear to be a lot of FAKE antiquities on ebid. I list restrung genuine ancient Egyptian amulets on ebid, and I see fake amulets listed here as antiquities. I buy fake amulets for a few of dollars each, I use them in my jewellery also, (they are clearly marked as reproduction), so I can easily recognise them. If you care to follow this link, you will see an article which depicts fake amulets which are listed from time to time on ebay and ebid. I expect that you can easily find them with a search for 'egyptian' or 'amulets' on ebid:

Provenance is very important in establishing something to be authentic. The use of period parts to put together a new item is not antique and should not be identified as one.

The same thing happens in the die-cast section with reproduction boxes mostly Corgi and Dinky, i have nothing against reproduction boxes as long as they are stated as repro but there is one seller that has them listed all ending around the same time so when i go to have a look all i see is his boxes and give up and go back to the other place to look for stuff to buy, this seller is doing the same over there once every month, over there you get about 5/6 pages of just his boxes, it is anoying and i think there should be a seperate section for them but not in the main catagory as they are not genuine.

Like i say i have nothing against reproduction boxes as i actualy make them myself but i always state they are repro and space the adverts out, i will be listing some here soon but at the moment i am concentrating on original die-cast listings first.
