Hi to the faithful few bashing this thread!

I'm new here, having got to the stage of abandoning ship with you-know-who.

As a new looker, I find the setup not the easiest to understand, probably because of prior experience. I totally agree that the flashing red 'r' is VERY misleading, and it took a fair bit of reading to find out that it actually means the opposite of what intuition indicates!

So my vote is to get rid of the idiot thing as it seems to serve no useful purpose other than to confuse new shoppers.

    That's my 2p; 2d; 2c worth folks.

I think the flashing 'r's are excellent, and I'm going to open a new shop selling migraine pills!

(Just kidding!). It's not only bad for migraine sufferers. It's a basic mistake in website design. Go look at Jakob Nielsen's site (he's one of the foremost experts on usability). E.g. http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20041206.html

Clearly the guys are not reading this thread. What's a good way to get the message across?

Don't know, apart from keeping this thread up at the top so we get everyone to vote! I've droned elsewhere about this, but the upshot is that red has been proved as an attention/warning colour, and having them flashing too, draws the eye away from the pictures, titles and other details in a list. Totally eye-boggling.

I wonder if they could stop flashing when the item has a bid on?

I had a call from a friend of mine earlier today who had been browsing through the eBid site. One of the first things he said was "What are those flashing Rs for? They drive you mad" I had to agree

Anything that flashes is not good for the eye or brain so I vote 'please get rid'. If potential buyers want something the flashing 'r' won't make any difference whether it's sold or not.
