Thread: Lots of people looking, no one buying

As another escapee from you know where I would like to be able to have "Best Offers" on my jewellery listings. I am also letting all my previous regular customers know that I have re-located to EBid so hopefully this will help. Sooner the better as my sales are virtually non-existent at the moment. Have the visitors looking, but not buying and can't afford to drop the prices with the cost of silver and shipping into the UK having gone up, like everything else. I am open to suggestions if anyone can think of a way to boost sales. Ever hopeful.

    Question "Best Offer"

But is there a particular reason that Admin did not include a "Best Offer" option?

Sadly, this is quite common - I've got over 550 items listed & rarely sell anything - however, I love the way you can list them so the time runs from the 1st bid - the listings stay on for 2 YEARS!! before they end automatically - so there's hardly any relists!!!!!!!

Plus it's free to list - so it's worth the effort - even if you don't sell much

Your lack of sales could partly be down to the 'Run from 1st Bid' option - your items receive far less exposure because they'll always be displayed at the end of a search.

You could well be better off adding an auction start time (and price?).. maybe listing for 10/20/30 days / whatever, then use the 'relist' option to relist the items automatically. If you listed for, say, 25 days x 10 auto-relists you wouldn't need to look at the auction again for 250 days, but would benefit a lot from your items appearing higher in the searches(?)

My own listings are usually 8-11 days, using auction AND BuyNow, mainly (and hopefully!) to benefit from the Google feed. It also keeps the items in front of members on a regular basis and gives me the reminder to tweak each one as the relists end..

We did have a particularly annoying troll a while back, who targeted certain members.

Because they would post where they could see the member was online so likely to see it, then pull the offending post before support saw it, it took a while until they were banned.

That's when I changed to invisible mode

    Hi.
I must agree with the get some feedback Brigade
& disagree with the recession brigade.

I had zero feedback this time last week.I went out & bought
10 items. paid for them straight away. I then had a feedback of 10+
Over the week-end I've had 8 sales, nothing shattering, but a good solid start.

As far as recession goes, i was in the biggest supermarket in the UK
the other day & all 60 + tills had people queuing , as was the garage outside & even the car wash had a que. No matter how hard things get, will we see kids running around with no shoes on? People are still
driving around in two cars. While i agree some people are struggling (and aren't there always groups who struggle no matter what?) I tend to think the one's who are being hit hardest at the moment, are not the ones who you would find on auction sites, at the very best of times.

    Ian.

    Well said Ian.
I guess I need to buy a few items this week.
That and work on another store for my wood carvings.
