Default I need a shoulder to cry on.....

I just tried to access one of my external hard drives to get at my photos....and all of the files with photos are empty. Then a little note showed up at the bottom of my screen saying Windows was unable to save all the file data for the file J: (Which is the external hard drive.) A few individual photos are ok, because they weren't in folders. All folders are empty.

    Is hemlock better than cyanide?

Thanks - I'm in teas because I take lots of photos for stock photo sites, as well as having grandkid pics etc.....oy. I haven't had the heart to do a look-see to what drive my back up goes to.......There must be data there somewhere as the properties say that about 1/4 of the disc is used......and if those files were empty, almost the entire HD would be empty......

Do not fret your Majesty, all is not lost
There are programs about (have a google) that will allow you to recover lost data on hard drives that have been cleared. To give you an example......I had an SD card which was used for holiday snaps, this is basically the same as any H/D, and I wiped it clean before realising that I hadnt saved the pics. So I borrowed one of these programs and recovered them all. So put down the hemlock/cyanide drink, and pour yourself a cup of hope.

    Best Regards..........John

Thanks guys........I will cross my fingers (that way they will match my eyes) and hope for the best. When I went to turn off the Ext HD using a Safely Remove Hardware button at the bottom of my screen, it won't even give me the option to do that. But maybe the data can be retrieved somehow. Will look into it. Thanks for the encouragement.

Keep the tread going as some of the computer wizards work and may not get on here till tonight. When you get them back burn them onto a disc as a back up.

great it is this software, you can restored deleted files
No file is actually deleted at all in your hd, they are just moved to another section, although you cant see them, how do you think the police can go through you pcs to check what you been looking at and downloaded, even tho you delete them

    will get link
