I like the sound of this. Could someone sell it in the UK please?
I've never had a book that didn't improve in time by simply airing it well - propped open in a well-ventilated spot. But if you've got a really smelly problem book, then I've seen several cheaper suggestions than specialist granules: tumble-drier sheets (but only if you like the smell better!!) or cat litter (I don't need to make the obvious point here, right? )
I use specialist cleaning gel to improve the outside condition of old books, but for simple problems there are often cheap or even free solutions if you've a little spare time and some patience.
So far I have only had a couple of smelly books and yes time will cure this. I was just hoping for a speedier solution. Never thought of catlitter(unused?)
I had one of my illuminated moments. They don't happen often
I keep a couple of "bath bags" with Lavender seeds in them around my books...they dont smell of lavender but it does stop them becoming musty (deodirises) and stops mould or owt from growing...works for me..
I had a smelly camera, I just kept it out in the open air and now it doesn't smell at all. I do hear that sunlight (more specifically, UV light) kills off the smelly particles.
