Default Poll: should auction plugs be limited?

There's been some discussion about whether or not there should be a limit on how often one can post to the "plug your auctions" threads. Do you think a limit is necessary? If so, how frequently should one be allowed to post? Daily? Hourly? Weekly? I'll pull some questions from the ether as a starting point!

Think i read somewhere that the moment you use the plug thread all your other threads get deleted. But they dont seem to.I never look there as its always the same ones posting. So i tend to ignore the thread.Good idea if it went .

I voted for one bump/post a day. I also think that if anyone is found to have more than the allowed ONE thread they should be excluded, also if the maximum number of bumps is exceded.

I quite agree with you Lofty, once a day is quite enough, and it will give any newbies a chance to get in and show off their wares without others hogging the top spot all the time.

I also voted for one bump/update post per day.

In an ideal world these things would be self-regulating but as eBid gets busier and busier with more sellers coming on board I suppose it's inevitable there'd be more jostling and competition for those top spots.

It'd be a crying shame to do away with the facility altogether as there's usually some great deals to read about so if it means an extra rule in place to give everyone a fair crack of the whip then so be it.

When I posted the poll I wasn't sure what my own vote would be, but I've given it some thought and concluded that while I don't have any problem with anybody using the current system to post as often as they like, as the site grows it could become an issue, and a rule in place for daily posting would stop it before it started.

What I don't like is the idea of some posters trying to impose limits on others, when no such official limit exists at present. I believe this has happened already, so nipping that in the bud by having an official rule seems like a good idea. A limit wouldn't suit everybody (I've posted more than once a day myself, so I'm being terribly altruistic here ) but would probably provide the fairest environment for all, and most importantly, make the situation clear beyond quibble.

Sorry, I'm not sure what point you're making? We know that bit, the question is - does that rule need expanding to include time limits?
