sound issues!

Hi all, now i have a strange one, im no novice with the PC, having enough knowledge to build and fix them etc, but my computers got a strange issue i've never had

if i play something, like a cd, or any file with sound on my puter, it works fine, but if i play something streamed, on the internet, i can't hear the sound

any help?

its any file, including youtube etc that worked fine before, it only happened about a month ago
