    Hi

I've always been a bit disappointed when I've upgraded processors. Unless you are doing a lot of processor intensive tasks (games and CAD/CAM) etc, the best "bang for your buck" usually comes from extra RAM (assuming you haven't got a ton of it already).

SCAN is also a good cheap site for a lot of computer bits :-

Something I've learned from a friend who's recently really looked into PC upgrades is that it's not just your CPU, but your RAM, your motherboard, your hard drive, and that's not even to mention the graphics card; all these components can improve the speed of your system dramatically, depending on what type of application you run.

My advice would be not to fall for hype or the latest fad - do your own research, read the spec sheets and benchmarks for yourself, understand what all the numbers really mean, then decide how much you can afford and buy appropriately.

I'd say you should aim for a Core2Duo at least, if your existing motherboard can take it. If you don't have any luck on eBid then give Dabs or Scan a go, they're usually the cheapest.
