Hmmm, I've literally just joined; haven't bought or sold anything yet.
I've moved over from Ebay, where the people are not friendly, not helpful, don't reply to messages and have been charging me a bloody fortune to sell stuff. Last week they told me I would have to have a mandatory Paypal account if I wanted to sell anything else, and would HAVE to accept Paypal as my main method of payment - even though I've spent the last 3 years happily taking cheque/postal order/COD without any problems... In other words, they wanted me to use an unnecessary (and unreliable) service from one of their subsidiary companies and then PAY EVEN MORE FEES into their coffers for the "privilege" of using that service.
Get lost Ebay, hello eBid.
I look forward to dealing with real people in a friendly environment. Come the 1st July, I shall start listing my cloaks/costumes/banners for LARPers/Pagans/Re-enactors, and anyone else who likes "medieval-style" clothing. Just look me up in clothing under "Celtic".
I was told that eBid is a bit strange, but quite nice. Being a practicing English Eccentric (haven't quite graduated to Great British Eccentric - yet) I hope that I'll fit right in. Judging from the above, I think I'm in with a chance... (:
Cheers all!
Carol
Oh, I think you have a very good chance to 'fit in'. I wasn't aware that ebid is supposed to be odd. That explains why I like it here
Hi Carol welcome to eBid, OK to help you get started add a signature link to your posts so us nosey lot have an easy link to your items whilst reading the forums, read this thread http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=100959 then fill in some info on Your About Me Page so people know about you as a seller. Perhaps buy a few things to kickstart your feedback over here, always looks better than a zero, ( I have some nice cheap prints ) have a look at my listings to see how I dealt with the zero feedback problem when I started.
Then email all YOUR (not Greedbay's they are a venue, they keep telling us) customers, and tell them where you are, give them a link to your listings. Grab the records while you can and from paypal records as well. That should keep you busy for a bit, and shout if you need a hand. Additional body parts incur a small fee Oh and finally read the forums there is a lot of useful information on here.

Hi again, thank you Ken and Sunny for your kind words.
Yes, I am busy listing up all my previous GreedBay customers, enquirers and bidders for a mailshot to let them know I am moving over. Also all my links to other forums/clubs/groups that I belong to - although these people will get a personal email rather than just a mailshot - I feel it's much nicer that way, less impersonal. This is why I gave myself 10 days to sort everything out before starting to sell here on eBid - I want everyone to have the chance to come see (and buy!).
I will also be listing one final cloak on GB at the end of the month to announce my move on a slightly wider stage (heh, heh, heh....)
Sunny, I make costumes for a hobby. Been doing it now for 40 years and made everything from an Ancient Egyptian High Priest of Anubis costume, through every historical epoch up to the 23rd Century Starfleet uniforms (ST, ST:TNG, DS9, and Enterprise) (yup, I'm an old time Star Trek fan..)
If you let me know what sort of costumes (11th C, 12th C, Hollywood fake medieval etc) you are looking for, I am sure I can make something up to suit if I don't already have something that I'll be listing come July.
Ooh, that's a point, can I take custom-made orders via eBid forums, or would that count as "off-eBid" ? Or am I thinking in GreedBay terminology??? I'm sure someone will be able to explain it to me.
In the meantime I shall start filling in forms and links so you can get to know me a bit better (I'm sure I've got a nice picture of myself taken back in 1187AD somewhere in the house....)
Cheers,
Carol
