Just got it, on the recommendation of my sister:
Through the Narrow Gate: A Nun's Story: A Memoir of Convent Life,,,,,by Karen Armstrong.
She has written a lot of books. She was in a convent for awhile, then left. Wrote many books on philosophy and comparative religions after she left.

That has dusted off a few decades of cobwebs in my memory Your Maj!

Well recommended by your sister, it's a very interesting read.

This is one of a series of THE SEVEN SISTER books - all of which are extremely well researched and written.

Highly recommended.
