I have discovered a new crime writer: Brigitte Glaser. To the best of my knowledge the books haven't been translated into English, I haven't decided yet if I want to read more, but so far I am happy

I recently finished "In Defence of Dogs" by John Bradshaw, it's non fiction,
& is fairly heavy going in places, but if you love dogs & want to understand more about them, it's a brilliant book to read.

    After that I read
The House of Green Turf by Ellis Peters, one of her Felse Series, I'm not really into Cadfael, but the couple of these I've read so far I quite like.
This one reminded me of Mary Stewart's Air's Above the Ground, a long time favourite,
    & the settings are similar.

I'm now struggling through The Lamorna Wink by Martha Grimes,
I have found it a frustrating book to read,
I'm enjoying the mystery part of the plot & if she stuck just to that it would be fine.
but, the forays into the lives of the regular characters I find annoying & I don't feel add anything, & these particular characters seem extremely artificial, virtually caricatures, who I cannot warm to at all. I don't think I'll be reading any more of them.

I'd let you have my copy of 'The Selfish Gene' which is brilliant but my daughter's nicked it - How selfish can you get

Is her name Gene?...now that would be funny.
That is the title that is next on my Richard Dawkins wish list as he keeps banging on about it in The God Delusion

I've just finished "God Of War" by Christian Cameron, about Alexander the Great.
Cameron is one of the very best writers of that period. One of my favourite authors!

For reasons I won't bore you with, I've just "done" Christmas. So now I shall be reading the Hamlyn all colour cookbook 200 bread recipes (snappy title, but super little book) and (drool) River Cottage handbook no.7 Hedgerow. Yum!
