Just started "The Return" by Victoria Hislop. Set in Granada during the Spanish Civil War.

Her first book, "The Island" was unputdownable -and this one bids fair to be the same

"Wives and Daughters" by Mrs Gaskell. Bought this book after watching the BBC drama some time ago and took the opportunity of the time spent on ferries recently to read it. Very enjoyable - what a pity Mrs Gaskell died before she had quite finished the book.

Love that one. Read the book years ago, then watched the TV series, then bought the audiobook.

I`m just reaching the end of The Devil In Amber by Mark Gatiss.I can`t decide if it reads too much like something that was written with a film/tv adaption in mind or if it`s just me wondering what it would be like on screen too much.
Its not as much fun as the first book[The Vesuvius Club]Hoping the next one will be better.
Still trying to think of an actor i would like to see play Lucifer Box.I would kind of want Delilah to outshine him anyway...

Still stuck on the oldies - re-reading the Earth's Children/Jean Auel... finished Clan and on Valley of the Horses

I am just about to start on Jean Auel's "the mammoth hunters", I have never read anything by this author before so I'm looking forward to it. last month I read "a farewell to France "by Noel Barber,a brilliant read though a bit long. It was appropriate in my case as we have sold up in France and are on our way back to UK.

Recapturing my lost youth and reading a bit of science fiction. The Jewels of Elsewhen, by Ted White. Lovely old Belmont paperback. Great looking book, and the female lead's called Kim, so it's bound to be good.
