read..Dan Brown new book..was disappointed, so was daughter..have now passed to MIL..
I've just finished HG Wells 'War of The Worlds' It was fantastic! The reason for that is I think; that as it was first published in 1898 H.G. Wells' story would have been incredible to the readers of the day. That the 'Martians' arrived in huge bullets fired from a giant gun on Mars didn't phase me at all.
Well worth a read! I'll list it soon.
I have just finished Mrs Pollifax on the China Station by Dorothy Gilman. I loved it. The idea of a little old lady going on secret missions for the CIA is very appealing. So this is now another series I will have to look for to buy
London by Edward Rutherfurd (that's how he spells it ) Anything by this author is unputdownable.
I read his New Forest when I moved to the New Forest. It was very interesting and I enjoyed it all except the bit where he writes from the point of view of a deer. Had the whole book been a fantasy it might have been bearable, but it was pretty poorly done and completely out of keeping with the rest of the story. Weird.
I'm reading Terry Pratchett's Unseen Academicals. An unread Pratchett is always a huge treat, with most of his I've read them so many times I'm word perfect.
I bought this on here, and (oh the ignominy) I had to out bid somebody to win it!!!
I am needing 'old favs' at the moment so on Mary Wesley again.

I have never read Mary Wesley. My Mil has all her books as M.W. is (I think) her god daughter. She certainly knows her
I have started In the teeth of the evidence by Dorothy L. Sayers. I hadn't realised they were short stories, till I got to the end of chapter 1
I recently finished Cyber Way by Alan Dean Foster, I'm still not sure about it, I don't think it's a keeper.
So now I'm re reading the Anne McCaffrey's Catteni Sequence I'm, currently on book 3, but I cannot remember if I own book 4
The dilemma now is
Do I buy the 4th one, & possibly end up with two?
Do I buy the new Robert Jordan that I really, really want?
Do I wait until after Christmas, & read something else instead, in case I'm bought one of them?
I've got a pile of unreads here, but sometimes reading my favourite Authors/Series suits my mood better.
