What book are you reading at the moment

I'm reading the new Douglas Kennedy book - have always enjoyed his writing. Very believable characters in odd situations, with a bit of mystery thrown in.

Reading The Fig Tree by Aubrey Menen. An old orange Penguin, original price 3/6. I love old Penguins. Not read this before and like very much. Funny story about a man who accidentally invents aphrodisiac figs. Since it's all about, effectively, GM crops it's also strangely up-to-the-minute! Written in 1959 before the phrase "GM crops" existed.

It's set in Italy, and is reminiscent of (but better than IMO) the Don Camillo books. I always find the Camillo stuff a little twee, but this avoids that trap. It's whimsical and clever, and puts a smile on your face.

I'm reading Virtuous Prince by David Starkey. It accompanies his new series of Henry VIII and it reads really easily too

I have finished the PG.Woodhouse 'Do Butlers Burgle Banks?' and loved it. Very much like Jeeves in some ways. Just now I have finished my 1st Agatha Raisin book and am now looking for more . But the one I am starting now is an old Pan paperback: The puzzle lock - nine cases of Dr. Thorndyke by R.Austin Freeman.

I'm now reading Duncan's book called

"Wake Up And Change Your Life"

It's brilliant stuff....loads of advice on how to make your first million.

Includes loads of case histories from totally ordinary folk who have done just that.

Made me think about the sacrifices people make to help their business grow.

To raise the cash to build his first of many care homes...Duncan sold his TV, car and his home ..now he has a fortune of over 300,000,000 that started from when he bought an ice cream van for £450.

Do you have ambitions to follow in his footsteps?

His ambition was to earn enough money so his kids would have bikes all the ice-cream they could eat...he decided that when he was a kid after his dad said he couldn't have a bike or ice-cream because his family was poor.

He didn't start his first business until he was 30 when he worked out that because he had been in prison twice and had been dishonourably discharged from the navy it was unlikely that he would be able to get a well paid job.

I am planning to make an appointment with the careers advisers to discuss ways of going about setting up my own employment agency. I also need to find out what kind of agencies are out there and find a way of doing what they do.....only better
