Currently (aside from Uni textbooks!) re-reading the Crusades Trilogy (Brethren, Crusade and Requiem) by Robyn Young.
Lol, Darwin Awards is hilarious!
LOL HM! Will have to check that one out. Currently reading Majestie (about King James I), not too crazy about it though, as it's too tongue in cheek for me; yes, I like those dry textbooks nobody ele reads, think it's the luckless librarian in me.
Getting ready to start Four Queens, hope it's a little more scholarly in nature.
Best wishes for many sales to all,
I dont like to read books but if its on the PC i will read anything.
I really like Westerns,History...
'Bomber Harris, his life and times' and 'Villages of England' by Clive Aslet.
I've been dipping in to 'The Decline of the West' by Adrian Goldsworthy for about 6 months now.
Can't get settled into fiction, there don't seem to be many interesting books about. A dead time of the year for publishers
Just started 'Secrets of a Family Album' by Isla Dewar
and have 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen' in the wings. Just hope it is as good as the synopsis!
My YDC100 purchase: The Kashmir Shawl - Rosie Thomas
"An epic story of wartime, family secrets and forbidden love, set against the stunning exotic backdrop of 1940s Kashmir.
Within one exotic land lie the secrets of a lifetime…
Newlywed Nerys Watkins leaves rural Wales for the first time to accompany her husband on a missionary posting to India. Deep in the exquisite heart of Kashmir lies the lakeside city of Srinagar, where the British live on carved wooden houseboats and dance, flirt and gossip as if there is no war.
But the battles draw closer, and life in Srinagar becomes less frivolous when the men are sent away to fight. Nerys is caught up in a dangerous friendship, and by the time she is reunited with her husband, the innocent Welsh bride has become a different woman.
Years later, when Mair Ellis clears out her father’s house, she finds an exquisite antique shawl, a lock of child’s hair wrapped within its folds. Tracing her grandparents’ roots back to Kashmir, Mair embarks on a quest that will change her life forever."
