From the FAQ (this is the UK one, but I guess it won't be much different elsewhere):
29) What items are banned on eBid (eBid Auction Posting Rules)
Below is not an exhaustive list but you should be aware that you are ultimately responsible for making sure that the buying or selling of an item is legal in the eyes of the law. The following items cannot be posted on eBid. It is at the discretion of eBid if a user is deemed to have broken these posting rules. If so their account will be held and ALL auctions deleted. Please ensure you read through this list, it will save you and us time in the future and answer alot of users complaints similar to "Why have eBid deleted my auctions for no reason". Auctions are NEVER deleted for no reason.
eBooks or any auctions that are selling information only.
Any eBooks or emailable information will be removed.

Thank you Johnwash1, I really appreciate your response. No E-Books here...
Now that feePay have also banned eBooks etc we'll probably be getting many similar questions..
Have they. It's a pity eBooks have acquired such a bad reputation. Admittedly most of them are just rehashes of info that anyone could gather on the 'net and in the local library, but a few may be useful.
For example, do repair manuals also count as ebooks? Some repair manuals are available on the 'net, but there's a lot of equipment for which that's not true and certain sellers run a significant business as a result.

Where did you see that?
Reason I'm asking is ebay auction 120256362819.
I'm looking at http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/items-ov.html but I can't see anything about ebooks there.

Just looked again, I'm not sure now if eBooks are banned outright on ePay. They can no longer be 'digitally delivered', that's for sure. Some sellers are supplying the eBooks on CDs now to get around that rule, there's some confusion over there about all this.
Here's a couple of links below, they banned all 'digitally downloadable/delivered' items from 29/4/08.

Thanks, that was enlightening.
How utterly stupid eBay are. Why aren't they also refusing listings of jeans (they might be counterfeit), handbags (they might be counterfeit), trainers (they might be counterfeit) and zillions of other items that might be counterfeit?
Surely it would make more sense just to crack down on sellers that are selling counterfeit items rather than assuming people are guilty until proved innocent?
Oh, of course, sense and eBay. Two words you don't often see in the same sentence without a negative somewhere in between!

Why buy eBooks you can find them free with very little searching.

Reincarnation is just another repeat
I got really peed when I found out ebooks arent being sold on auction sites anymore. and I'd just found one I wanted! Probably for the best, most are pretty garbage anyway. Can you sell ebooks on CD still?
