Unhappy Re changes to auction description width

Re. UPDATE - Due to requests from many eBidders wanting to be able to use wider auction descriptions we've chanegd the maximum width from 614 pixels to 940 pixels

No, please no, put it back how it was! The integrity of the design is lost. It looked so good but now it's just wrong.

    Sorry to be negative!

Where are you "seeing" the new design? I'm on the US site and so far this morning it is not showing up yet.

When I first started on eBid I was among those who felt the 614Pixel width was too narrow. But after adjusting my templates, etc., it works fine for me. With that said, I won't complain if they make it wider...it will allow for larger pictures to be uploaded....

    Hello iwiw60

Sorry just nipped off to pack a parcel.

On my own auctions if you want to have a look (see sig). Just the description panel has been expanded.

    You think

I don't, if the rest of the panels where to be matching widths then maybe, but the description panel just looks wrong.

Mind, could be that I take most of my descriptions straight from my website and it's three columns wide so they fitted quite nicely.

At the moment it's neither one thing or the other, think it should be all wider or back as it was. JMHO.

Very true and no doubt in a few days I will get use to it. I know at one point I was annoyed as I wanted to put 2 pics side by side on a listing and with the narrow width it was impossible so I adapted then and can do it again.

Still think the description box looks wrong though compared to the rest of the page

That's easy enough to say but how would you like to have to adapt 3600 auction pages. It's a distraction from selling that I can't afford.

I understand why it's been done, but like Kedo has said in another post & you've pointed out it too fragmented. I looked at an auction & thought the description was missing, as the "flow" is lost.

If as Gazza has said it's going to stay at this width fine, BUT tidy up the rest so all fits together, at the moment it just looks clumsy.

If you extend the length of the Meet the Seller &/or the More by this Seller, & maybe add another panel under the About this Auction (even if it's blank for now) so that they both match the centre panel in length, it would look better.

Then increase the bottom panel to the same width as the listing one.

Well after 614 was first introduced I spent 100s of mind numbing hours altering listings- then started adding Google Checkout when that was introduced (still got more to update) and now I'm adding the additional countries- I feel dread when changes are introduced, it mostly means 100s of hours revising listings instad of doing what I came here to do, thats list, a bit of a relief to see this change just impacts on the aesthetics without a need for me to spend more time editing things, I do get a feeling i just met myself at about the place I started....
