I had a thought. Maybe they want to try to keep eBid as more an auction site than sale site if you see what I mean.

eBay's been moving towards favouring businesses over occasional sellers for a while and maybe the powers that be here are keen on trying to pick up on the auction side. A holiday setting would make the place more like Amazon. Where we list at a set price.

    Just a thought.

...yes, I see what you mean Inversions :-) ....

and also, we do not want a clone of Ebay, I can see that too....but having to end 600 items because I will be away for a week ...and then having to relist them when I get back ...seems a little silly. Surely, just to be able to 'shut up shop' for a spell would suffice.
At the moment, I can take my shop offline...but the items are still to be seen for sale.....this in itself is not a problem. It becomes a problem when someone decides to buy an item and then repeatedly asks for invoices etc....not having seen any notices there may have been.

    I am speaking from experience.

In an ideal world...with an ideal 'holiday setting' ...buyers could browse your items but would not be able to buy ...OR ... when they click the 'buy' button ....would be informed that the seller was away from * to * ...and that there would be a delay in receiving the item.

that would be ideal ...but in reality... just a better 'system' than what we have at the moment ...would do :-)

I can see how a holiday setting would work with BIN-only items. How would it work with items on auction?

If you set a holiday message it shows on all your listings. This does presuppose buyers can actually read, which sometimes does appear to be questionable

'scuse me, but I'm new over here. :-) (I can't even find the smilies!!):-(
I think this "Holiday" settings is a good idea.
Do we have "Pinks"(for want of a better, or the correct, word) that comment on posts from ebids point of view or do we just talk amongst ourselves?

We do need a holiday setting, I was not intending to suggest we didnt. I just thought of a reason for the 'pinks' to be unfussed about one.

    Soo the cry goes out:

We would like a holiday setting, we would very much appreciate a holiday setting, a holiday setting would be immeasurably useful. Etc.
